Synopsis

Eventually, the guilty parties must find the strength to make the right decision, facing consequences of their actions.Short- and long-term resistance exercise adaptations in older men and women: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Individuals of older age experience a decline in muscle mass and strength during a given training stimulus. This decline in response to a given training stimulus is termed "decreased responsiveness". The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of resistance exercise adaptations in older adult men and women when resistance exercise is practiced at the same relative load (1 RM) but with shorter versus longer rest periods between sets. Using the Embase, Medline, CINAHL, Web of Science, and SPORTDiscus databases, randomized controlled trials were identified that examined the effect of short versus long rest periods on short- and long-term adaptations in resistance
