[Mechanical circulatory assistance for acute heart failure : An update]. Mechanical circulatory assistance represents a cornerstone for the treatment of heart failure patients. Recently, new devices for short-term circulatory support have been developed and have demonstrated effective and safe use. The following review discusses current concepts for mechanical circulatory support in heart failure patients, including long-term circulatory support and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Mechanical circulatory assistance can help bridge to cardiac transplantation and reduces the risk of left ventricular assist device thrombosis. Although these devices are lifesaving for the majority of patients, further improvement of the mechanical circulatory support devices and reduced hospital length of stay are required.Carlo Rosa (engineer) Carlo Rosa (20 October 1909 – 29 March 1975) was an Italian aerospace engineer. He was involved in the development of the Comet and other early jet aircraft in the 1930s. He also invented, among other things, a prototype rocket-powered aircraft, the Rosa I. In 1946, he designed the Aermacchi-Rosa AR.1 fighter aircraft with a rocket engine. The aircraft had a two-man crew and was intended for use by the Aeronautica Militare. Rosa I The Rosa I was built by Carlo Rosa in Italy as a test vehicle for his design of a rocket engine. The vehicle was a single-engine monoplane with a tubular steel body, an aluminium wing and a crew of two seated in tandem under a single large canopy. The full-throttle test flight of Rosa I was conducted on 31 July 1949 ac619d1d87
